MFVF XIII was a smash!

We had an absolute blast meeting fans, making new friends, and performing on Sunday. A million thanks to everyone involved, not limited to:

Aziza Poggi, Bianca de Ruiter, Helcanen Val, Marc Lejoly, Nathalie Doktor, Maurice Hilferink, Janneke de Rooy, Jack Williams, Lindsay Schoolcraft, Thanos Murikka, Wendy Steenmans, Kristi Czechan, Sophia Jones, Eleana Dimopoulou, Pia-Kim Schaper and Cristina Mlynek, to the ENTIRE staff of the MFVF crew (stage, security, vendors, bartenders, kitchen staff, photographers, videographers, etc.), and all the fans and supporters who dragged themselves out of bed after a night of partying to manage to see us perform first thing at noon!

Now that we are over all the crazy chaos of travel and such, we will focus on completing the remainder of our digital orders from the Undying Fire Indiegogo campaign.

Next on our to-do list is to start writing new music, and we have some things already brewing. Of course, we'd love to play more shows, so at the moment we're talking with friends in bands and supporters in other countries to see what we might be able to do with the resources we have.

We've updated our webstore so now you can purchase the new Undying Fire t-shirts, the album, and autographed copies of the album. Since we left a good amount of stash with our Dutch division, anyone ordering in the Netherlands can now expect lower postage rates!

Thank you for your Undying Support!

Sep 21, 2016

We are officially one month away from our official album release date, and to celebrate, we've given a special treat to our Indiegogo crowfunding campaign backers--those who claimed perks which included the "Early Bird Digital Download" received the digital album today. So far, the response has been fantastically positive.

We offer our deepest thanks to everyone who has supported us along this journey. We hope you love this album and that it touches your heart as much as you've touched ours.

Let's tackle this release and light the world on [undying] fire! *wink* It's time to get the word out, to get the rest of the world excited. Undying Fire is coming 21.October.2016. Let's get the town talking.

Cheers from the island!

Some extra news regarding our performance at Metal Female Voices Fest XIII (MFVF)

Our Sunday performance will feature two guests: Thanos Murikka from Enemy of Reality, and Lindsay Schoolcraft from Cradle of Filth. Thanos will be joining us with death vocals on our opening song "Wake Up," and Lindsay will help us end our set with a bang on our song "Come to Me."

Kassandra and Joop are also partaking in the Friday evening acoustic set of "Metal Female Voices Unplugged" performing with various other musicians. They'll revive the 2015 fall tour version of Saying Goodbye with guest Aziza Poggi (Aria Flame) singing duet with Kassandra. Also, Eynomia announced today on their Facebook page that their singer Phyllis Rutter and Kassandra will be doing a duet during the Friday show as well (a duet between Phyllis and Kassandra with Joop on keyboards). Friday will also feature an acoustic version of "If I Could" from Mercy Isle's upcoming album Undying Fire, featuring our friend Lindsay Schoolcraft as a guest. More performances are planned, though the full set has not been announced. (Some surprises should be left, you know)

The band regularly posts behind-the-scenes updates in their Facebook group #IslandersOfMercyIsle and welcomes fan participation and discussion. Join the group to find out all the good "dirt" and be a part of the action.

In the meantime, the entire band (and our wonderful new members, guitarists Freek Gielen and Eelco Slont) are very excited be be performing next month at Metal Female Voices Fest XIII. Considering our members are rarely on the same continent at the same time, this is a special treat and reunion for all of us.

To Note: our performance at MFVF is our official CD release party. Undying Fire will be available for sale online and in-person at MFVF starting 21.October.2016.

Thanks a million to all our supporters!

On our quest for musicians to do guitar duties for the upcoming Mercy Isle gig at Metal Female Voices Fest, we have found no other than... wait for it...

Freek Gielen (The Theatre Equation, Marcel Coenen & Friends)

and

Eelco Slont (Bo-El Guitars tech, The Saucy Jacky Postcard)

And guess what? Not only are they preparing to join us at MFVF, but they also stated they agreed to join the ranks of Mercy Isle on a permanent basis!

Needless to say we are overjoyed by this news having two Bo-El powered giants as new residents on our island.

Give a BIG welcome and lots of Mercy Isle love to Freek Gielen and Eelco Slont!

All the songs for the album have been recorded, mixed, and mastered!

Our next step is to obtain some ISRC codes, barcode, get the completed album artwork, and submit them to the duplication company for pressing and packaging!

Then soon it will be time to order t-shirts, posters, photos, special design thank you cards, shipping envelopes and bubble wrap, extra packing tape, get all our international shipping forms--baking cookies, baking pies, writing out lyrics, writing in the thank you cards, recording serenades and cover songs, and all before we fly to Europe for MFVF.

Soon we'll be posting an album teaser video to whet your appetite and give you a sample of what we've been up to.

Thanks for your support and visiting us here at the Island!

Cheers,

Kassandra, Chad, Joop, & Ywe

Hello Islanders!

Most of our recording is done now--all that is left to record are Amanda Somerville's guest vocals on our song "Saying Goodbye," and Jeroen Goossens' flute appearances on both "Saying Goodbye" and "If I Could."

Sander Gommans has already started working on mixing the album. We are all so very proud of this beast already, and we are beyond excited.

As you know, we raised a good chunk of money from our Undying Fire Indiegogo campaign, however, we didn't raise our goal. To help raise a little bit more, right now we are hosting a HUGE discount sale on our current stock of merchandise through our webstore. Our Storm EP tshirts are now $5, our Logo tshirts are $3... Everything is massively cut down with the hopes of moving this merchandise out of our stock and into your hands, with some little extra help in funding our album.

We realize that shipping costs are atrocious these days, so hopefully, with these enormous discounts, this will give some extra incentive and relief for you to get your Mercy Isle gear.

And, of course, you can always tell your friends about Mercy Isle's Bandcamp site, as additional music sales through Bandcamp helps to fund our activities.

Thank you for your continued support!

In the meantime, check out this fantastic little video our friends at Metal At the Gates made. We had a blast doing some choir singing with friends for our song "Come to Me." We can't wait for you to hear the finished product on the album!

All our love,

Kassandra, Chad, Joop, & Ywe

Jun 17, 2016

The campaign ended June 11th having raised $9,392. This is no small feat! The band thanks everyone for their participation, for sharing, and taking the time to show support. Mercy Isle is not just a band; in spirit, it's a community for bandmembers and fans alike. This would not be possible without you, so you have the band's deepest thanks.

Keyboardist Joop de Rooij finished recording his key/piano parts a couple weeks ago, and drummer Ywe Van Der Pol finished the final recordings for drums last week with recording engineer Daan Janzing in The Netherlands. Next on the recording schedule are vocals (Kassandra and Chad Novell's turn). Scheduled studio dates for vocals are June 27-29, July 5-7 with recording engineer Kyle White in Milwaukee, WI. Guest guitarist Sebas Honing will be recording guitars starting July 3 and finishing mid-July. Chad Novell will begin recording bass on July 14 with Milwaukee recording engineer Chris Kringel.

Finished tracks will be sent to producer and mixing engineer Sander Gommans (After Forever) for mixing.

July also marks the start of album artwork creation by Jan Yrlund (Imperia).

Thank you for your continued support! More updates will be coming, so stay tuned.

-Kassandra, Chad, Joop, & Ywe

May 19, 2016

Mercy Isle is pleased to announce that Amanda Somerville of Trillium (and recent guest of Avantasia) will join Kassandra Novell in a duet on their song "Saying Goodbye" to be released on their upcoming album Undying Fire.

The band's crowdfunding campaign continues until June 10. They are currently $10,700 shy of their goal.

Visit their Indiegogo campaign page HERE fore more details and to claim your rewards.

Apr 11, 2016

Mercy Isle launched their Indiegogo campaign today for their upcoming album "Undying Fire."

Here's what the band has to say on their Indiegogo page:

"The cost of taking music from the writing table to the audience is a lot higher than what most people realize. There are a million tiny moving parts, and every part needs to be “oiled” (a.k.a. paid for) in order to operate.

Your contributions will help pay for:

  • Professional producer Sander Gommans, vocal producer Amanda Somerville, recording/tracking at professional studios in the USA and NL, track editing, mixing & mastering
  • CD artwork & full booklet design by Jan Yrlund
  • CD duplication/packaging/distribution & related copyright fees
  • New album merch (t-shirts, posters, etc)
  • Roundtrip airfare, lodging, and transportation for MFVF
  • And, if we are able to do so, we hope to do a short Scandinavian tour following MFVF

It’s a huge undertaking and we’re shooting for the moon.

We have some great rewards as a way to say “thank you” for helping us cover our costs. From $1 thank yous, to the typical offerings you’d think of like CDs and t-shirts, to more personal items like homemade cookies and apple pie, Kassandra sending you a private cover song of your choice, to the motherload of merch in the Island Misfit King/Queen perk, and to having a song dedicated to you at MFVF, we have a variety of ways to make this campaign special for you."

There is also a link to the campaign on one of the navigation tabs of this website.

The campaign runs through June 10.

Mercy Isle welcomes drummer Ywe van der Pol (ex Galanor, ex Android Soul, Team of Passion) and guest guitarist Sebas Honing (Equisa, Minor Giant, Van Halen Tribute 5150, solo artist) to the fold.

Former guitarist Cory Scheider left to focus on pursuing other opportunities with his death metal band Casket Robbery. Former drummer Adam Maltby had the fortune of becoming the new business owner of tattoo shop Art Haus Ink, so he resigned to focus on maintaining his new business.

As Sebas is a guest, the band will be auditioning for a permanent guitarist located in the Netherlands. Any interested Dutch guitarists may contact the band via email: booking@mercyisle.com.

As 2016 is rolling along, Mercy Isle is in the midst of recording demos for their upcoming full-length debut album. The album will feature 10 songs. Among those, we will see a remix/revision of Storm, No One Will Save You, Uncaged, and the band's single Saying Goodbye.

The band is currently in negotiations with a producer and production team based in the Netherlands. Fans can expect to see a couple Dutch names in the album production credits. The band currently has seven demos ready to submit to their producer for review and revision with the last three shortly on the way.

An Indiegogo campaign will be launched in the late spring of 2016 to fundraise for the album and related merchandise costs.

The band has submitted an application to perform at Metal Female Voices Festival. Should the band be invited to perform, the Indiegogo campaign will also aid in funding related transportation and lodging costs.

Looking ahead to the immediate future: Mercy Isle will be celebrating their one year anniversary of launching their single I'm Gonna Make It along with the official band release. They will be offering special sale packages on merchandise during the week of March 13-19. They will be:

Nov 16, 2015

It's been one week since Mercy Isle has completed its successful first tour with tourmates Aria Flame. We'd like to thank everyone who helped to make this tour happen, to everyone who came together at the last minute to provide much-needed resources, fast networking, and support. A huge round of thanks to everyone who attended the shows and an extra special thanks to those who purchased merchandise at those shows (vans, hotels, and gasoline aren't free, so every purchase helps)!

You can watch live footage of our performance at DeLand Rock & Metal Fest on our YouTube channel. Here's one song we performed from our debut EP Storm, called "No One Will Save You."

Next on our agenda is writing and recording our full-length album due out autumn of 2016. We will be refraining from booking frequent concerts to focus our efforts on the album. We will be launching a new Indiegogo campaign in the late spring/early summer to fund the album.

Thank you!

On the evening of June 10, Mercy Isle released their second single, "Saying Goodbye."

The latest single can be purchased through Bandcamp. It is also available for streaming through ReverbNation.

"Saying Goodbye" was released as a thank-you to fans and supporters who have helped them reach $4,000 on their Indiegogo campaign. They are still short of their total goal of $6,500. The campaign ends this Saturday, June 13.

Share the new music and the campaign!

Jun 5, 2015

Mercy Isle's Indiegogo campaign has cracked $4,000, and to celebrate, the band has announced they will release a new single titled "Saying Goodbye."

Indiegogo is a crowdfunding tool designed in such a way that fans can pre-pay for band merchandise and products before they are released. Amongst the basic merch you would expect, they have included creative fun perks, from $1 for "FUBAR #Selfies," homemade chocolate cookies (made by Kassandra), puffy paint customized t-shirts, YouTube AMA videos, to signed birthday cards and more. Visit their campaign HERE to claim your perk package.

"Saying Goodbye" is due for release on June 10th. We're told it's a ballad about loss, specifically the death of loved ones. It was composed by Joop de Rooij and Kassandra Novell. Keyboards/piano were tracked by Joop in the Netherlands, vocals were recorded by Cory Scheider at Old Dark House Studio in Madison, WI, USA.

The band's debut EP is slotted for official release in October 2015. It will feature four songs:

  • I'm Gonna Make It (remix)
  • Storm
  • No One Will Save You
  • Uncaged

Mercy Isle explains that the three new songs will be a contrast to their initial release "I'm Gonna Make It," as they contain heavier riffs and are darker in sound.

Mercy Isle's first live performance is June 27 at the Second Annual Madtown Underground Throwdown in Madison, WI.

May 27, 2015
Kassandra recently gave an update on the Indiegogo campaign. Here's a video with a couple sneak peeks at vocal melodies and lyrics from songs that will be on the debut EP.
Visit the Indiegogo campaign here and stake your claim to one (or more!) of our fun perks. The campaign runs through June 13, so get your perks now before it's too late!

May 22, 2015

Mercy Isle and Aria Flame are more than thrilled to announce our upcoming fall mini-tour starting on November 4.

Mercy Isle presents a soundscape that blends synth pop, smooth vocals, crunchy-punchy layers of melodic metal, with splashes of baroque and classical music.
Aria Flame is an American neo-classical symphonic metal band with European flair. They utilize operatic and rock style vocals, powerful guitar riffs and solos, symphonic keyboards and intricate bass and drums.
They’ll be kicking it off in Battle Creek, Michigan and ending it with a bang at Deland Rock and Metal Festival in Florida. Singer Kassandra Novell from Mercy Isle and Aziza Poggi from Aria Flame met through the worldwide professional community of female metal singers called “Eve’s Apple.” Eve’s Apple was founded by Lisa Middelhauve, formerly from Xandria, and featured many known singers such as Lindsay Schoolcraft from Cradle of Filth, Charlotte Wessels from Delain, Marcela Bovio from Stream of Passion and Elize Ryd from Amaranthe.
Besides being a guest singer for Aria Flame, singer Kassandra Novell has been seen performing with Marcela Bovio from Stream of Passion as well as Ailyn Giménez from Sirenia with Eve’s Apple and Metal Female Voices United at Metal Female Voices Festival in Belgium.
Aria Flame performed for the first time at the festival in 2014. They released their debut EP “A World of Silence” on October 11. The EP was mixed and mastered by Grammy award-winning producer Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Nevermore, Queensrÿche, etc.) and produced by Aria Flame’s own bass player Greg Cloon at Underground Studios.
Keyboardist Joop de Rooij was formerly in the Dutch band Magion. They opened for Epica, Delain, Trail of Tears & Jorn. Mercy Isle guitarist Cory Scheider was in the well known metal act Luna Mortis which had been signed to Century Media Records in 2009. Dendura was Aziza Poggi and Greg Cloon’s former band. Dendura was hired to remake Edvard Grieg’s “In The Hall of The Mountain King” for a cartoon mini series called “Monsters Balls” on the Comedy Central Network and been seen in Metal Hammer Magazine before disbanding in 2010.
Kassandra and Aziza have performed multiple shows together with Kassandra as a guest vocalist also for Aria Flame. Mercy Isle and Aria Flame also share the same keyboardist, Joop de Rooij, so they are a tight-knit metal family. Joop will be flying in to the USA to play this tour! Mercy Isle’s bassist, Chad Novell, will also be filling in on bass for Aria Flame on the 5th and 6th due to Aria Flame’s bassist Greg Cloon being unavailable those two dates.
Together, these two bands unite and are anxious to get on the road together!

Mercy Isle has announced that should their Indiegogo campaign reach $4,000, they will release a new song. It's a ballad to contrast the upbeat, driving character of their debut single "I'm Gonna Make It."

The band is currently at $2,672 on their campaign. Their goal is $6,500. The campaign ends on June 13.

To spice things up, Mercy Isle has removed a couple perks from the campaign that no one had taken, and put things like Kassandra's homemade chocolate chip cookies, personalized t-shirts, and additional mixed tapes perks in their place.

They also recently gave a video update of their campaign:

As of yesterday at about 11:30 a.m. we launched our Indiegogo campaign, "Mercy Isle's debut EP." Check it out here:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/mercy-isle-s-debut-ep

We can't believe we've already sold out of one of our perks, and closing in on selling out of another. We are asking fans on our Facebook page what they'd like to see available to them. If you want to share your wishes, hop on over to Facebook and give us your thoughts!

We'd also like to thank everyone who has Liked, Shared, and contributed to the campaign and cause. We see some very touching and incredible support coming to us and we're feeling very touched and honored.

The campaign runs until June 13 (I believe), so mark your calendar, but know you still have time to get involved.

Thank you again, and enjoy the campaign!

Mercy Isle has been announced as a part of the Sunday, November 8 line up for Deland Rock & Metal Fest in Deland, Florida.

Mar 26, 2015

We have been live & active online now since our debut last Wednesday, March 18. It has been a wonderful ride so far, and thank you for joining us.

Our single is available for download at Bandcamp (see the menu bar for the link) and streaming at Reverbnation.

Next on our To Do List is fundraising through Indiegogo. We have a CD we are already writing for. As of this moment, we are looking to do about 7 songs for this release if we are to keep to our strict deadline, more if we are able. Along with an album, we hope to bring you a music video and afford a small tour this November, as well as getting additional merchandise and goodies available for you. The goal is to release the album in October, which means we will need to have all of our recording done by July so it can be mixed and mastered and ready for duplication/production by August/September. We intend on working with Gogo Melone ART for our album artwork.

We will be recording a campaign video soon, and once we have it recorded and edited, we will officially launch the campaign.

Kassandra will be attending FemME Festival in Holland this October 2015. She'll be a guest performing on a song with our sister band Aria Flame. We're proud she'll be representing Mercy Isle at such a prestigious festival, and thanks to Aria Flame for inviting her to sing with them.

Thanks to Lance Graham of RawRadioX for premiering our single, and Tayla Dickenson of Muses of Metal for playing our song and getting us heard on the web in the UK. Thanks to Sonic Cathedral for announcing our debut and their warm support. Also huge shout outs to Unleash the Furies, MetalUnderground, Femme Metal Webzine, and other Facebook groups for sharing us, such as Metal and Hardcore-Punk Girls, Metal & High Heels, Headbangers LatinoAmerica, Silence of Shadows in Brazil, and The Sirens of Rock and Metal. Thanks to everyone who has shared our music with the world and getting us heard.

We absolutely appreciate and need the support, especially with the impending campaign. The more ears, the better! So thank you, DEEPLY, from the bottom of our hearts.

-Mercy Isle

Mar 18, 2015

The single has been released! Our wonderful friends at Sonic Cathedral have released the announcement this morning 11 am CST. Thanks to them for kicking off this exciting new adventure!

Within the first hour of the release we got 100+ likes on our Facebook page, and that number continues to climb.

We are live on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Bandcamp, ReverbNation, and CD Baby. Our merch store is also online and ready for orders.

So what are we going to do now?

We will be launching an Indiegogo campaign in the upcoming weeks. Our first priority was giving you the opportunity to see what we can do, to see who we are, and to get an idea of what we aim to accomplish. We would never expect anyone to buy a car without test-driving it first. ;-)

With the campaign we'll be raising funds to complete an EP, get artwork, get physical copies, and also... we've got a couple big shows lined up this fall. Can't say much about them yet, but the campaign will help get us to those gigs WITH our beloved keyboardist who will fly from the Netherlands to the US, and by being here we will be able to get live concert footage of all 5 of us, edited as a music video. We'd also love to provide you with additional merch such as full size concert posters, patches, wrist bands, etc. We already have brain-stormed some pretty fun ideas, so we're excited to get it going. For now, we'll bask in a great debut.

As for more news: we'll be on the air with Lance Graham of RawRadioX next week Tuesday at 6pm CST. And, in a few weeks, Doctor T of Sonic Cathedral has an interview with us that will be published on the SC webzine.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and by all means, check out the sights and sounds of Mercy Isle!

Mar 17, 2015

The release date is finally tomorrow, March 18, 2015. Our website looks glorious thanks to the talent of Voa VoXyD of Ad Inferna, who is also an extremely talented web designer.

Our single is now available for purchase on Bandcamp; there is a redirect link in our menu bar. We are also now streaming on ReverbNation. We will have a lyric video up later today to accompany the single release.

We'd like to thank everyone who has made this single release as smooth as possible and those who have provided consultation, including: Chris Wisco, Gogo Melone, Mary Sweeney, Esther Seijmonsbergen, Voa VoXyD, David Robins, Jeff Shaffer, Terry Thompson, Robin Stryker, Michael Woelfel, Chris Kringle, Jeff Schuelke, Sophia Jones, Gemma Fitzsimmons, VK Lynne, Meliesa McDonell, and Marcela Bovio. Of course, there are more thanks to give, and we have an endless supply of it.

Now we wait to see what the tide will bring in. \m/

Mar 6, 2015

Right now it seems we might be ready for release around St. Patrick's Day, give or take a few days.
The photo has been finished, the single is getting a last few touches made to it; all of the band business has been set in place. Our website will be rehauled in the next week or so, and a good friend of ours will be putting together a simple lyric video for us once we get the finished single back from the studio.
We're all dying to release the whole package, and shortly after we announce, I think within a month, our first big gig will also be announced. Lots of good things on the horizon.
"There is nothing between that horizon and me"--I'm Gonna Make It, Mercy Isle

Feb 26, 2015

Our single sounds incredible. We've been listening to the work Chris Wisco from Belle City Sound has been putting in, and it is really jaw-dropping stellar. We can not recommend him highly enough.
Check out the Belle City Sound Facebook Page for more information. If you are a musician, you can do the whole package with him, or just have him mix/master. We had him mix and master, and we couldn't be more excited to unleash this beast to the world.

Feb 23, 2015

Our debut single is being mixed & mastered by Chris Wisco of Belle City Sound as I type this.
We are going to order patches and have our symbol embroidered on them.
We had an interview with Doctor T of Sonic Cathedral yesterday and gave him a private listen to our rough pre-mix, which he really enjoyed.
We will be on air for an interview with Lance Graham of RawRadioX.com next month, March 24.
We are thinking of releasing an EP instead of a full album, maybe the 7-8 songs we are already working on, and that will be enough for a release by *hopefully* end of summer/early fall.
We should be releasing this single in the next couple weeks. \m/
